Holiday to South Africa & Zambia
Anonymous, 8th May 2022Excellent trip, a bit of everything, and we've still plenty more to do for next time!
Accommodation Visited
The Oyster Box Hotel
“Hotel was excellent overall, with friendly staff/service, esp at reception, for breakfast, at the pool, and for dinner. Food excellent and really enjoyed being "by the pool" but disappointed we couldn't use the beach (due to the e-coli after recent floods) and our room was a bit cramped and oddly positioned (over the pool toilet access!).”
The Last Word Franschhoek
“Great welcome and personal service from the managers (Franklin to start and then Conrad), fantastic roomy room/suite, great breakfast and ideally positioned in Franschhoek for walking to the local restaurants (two great recommendations) and driving around the area as a base for our wine tours and tasting.”
The Clarendon Bantry Bay
“Amazing staff and amazing sunsets, great and secure base for Cape Town trips and travelling around the area by car (nothing really walkable from here), some great restaurant recommendations in Cape Town (Karibu) & Camps Bay (Mantra Cafe).”
The Royal Livingstone Hotel by Anantara
“Highlights of our stay were the shoe drying by our butler (after two very wet trips to the falls, Zim & Zam), sundowners on the terrace by the Zambezi, and the wildlife walking through the hotel grounds which gave us an up-close safari experience on both evenings! Service good but not the greatest breakfast buffet, and the dinner was relatively expensive vs the Three Monkeys & Lookout Cafe (both excellent and just over the border in Zimbabwe). Kaza Univisa was the key to fast/painless border crossings!”
The Residence Boutique Hotel
“Outstanding staff and service, and the suite was truly luxurious (shame we weren't there longer!), so relaxing a place to be, great breakfast/bar service and the chauffeurs were "the best" fetching and carrying us around the area with patience and great humour. We will definitely be back for an extended stay next time, to see the team again and make better use of the Penthouse Suite !”
Staff Review
“Claire P and Mahlatini first organised our travel for May 2020. Then again for May 2021 and finally for May 2022! They accommodated changes, especially to the third trip, and ensured that the price was held at the 2020 level (maybe even reduced!). Claire P and Claire J communicated back to any questions helpfully and in a timely manner.
There was some confusion on my part about how best to obtain the Kaza Univisa - but it turned out to be very simple at arrival in South Africa with the relevant US dollars to hand. A new development in South Africa is that road tolls no longer seem to accept international credit cards. Tourist drivers should ensure that they have Rand to hand.”
