Honeymoon to South Africa & Mozambique
Daniel Windsor, 12th July 2022If I could give more than 5 stars I would have! It was everything and more than we would have wanted. Everything ran so smoothly and all the staff knew exactly where we needed to be and who was collecting us. It has literally ruined our future holidays as nothing will be able to compare to this. We’ve only been home 2 weeks and I want to go back already. We did 3 different types of holidays all in 17 days which was amazing. Obviously, particular highlights were the game drives! All of the hotels that we stayed at were incredible and personalised to us.
Accommodation Visited
The Last Word Franschhoek
“From the word go, we felt like royalty. We blinked and our bags were taken out of the taxi and up in our room with a little slice of cake each.
Condrad the manager of The Last Word was so attentive. He sat us down in the first 5 minutes to discuss our itinerary for the 3 days, gave us advice on what vineyards were best to visit on the wine tram and booked all our taxis for the evening meals.
The room was lovely, the bed was huge, the breakfasts were so cute served on a cake stand and on our last night they decorated our room with candles with it being our honeymoon.”
Ngala Safari Lodge
“Driving through the game reserve to get to the lodge was such a fun experience. Never have we been in a normal car and a giraffe walk past.
This place was so cosy and felt so homely. We instantly felt comfortable here. I don’t think we were ever once hungry, you couldn’t move for food (which in our eyes is the best!)
Moving on to the game drives, we were so fortunate to be by ourselves on the game drive, with our guide (Steven) and tracker (Chris). They were so flexible with the times because it was just the 2 of us, we were ouT first and stayed out the latest.
All the staff here were so lovely, from our butler (Tusson) to the management. Everyone knew our name and were so attentive.”
Tengile River Lodge
“Whereas Ngala felt cosy, this place felt luxurious. We kept saying to ourselves ‘is this all ours’. The rooms here are absolutely huge and so nicely set out with all the doors opening onto the veranda.
Our guide (Wade) and tracker (Vik) were amazing again and we saw so many animals. You could tell that they loved their job and were experienced. *spoiler alert*.
Wade told us one morning that our butler had broken down in the park and needed help. However, we turned around a corner and they had set up the most fantastic breakfast for us all. They were cooking hot food in the middle of the park! This was one moment we will never forget.
We both cried leaving here, which surprised us both. We weren’t sure why we cried whether it was because it was amazing or that we knew the safari part was over.”
Benguerra Island Lodge
“What a final destination to end our honeymoon. We stayed here for 5 days but could have easily done longer. There is so much to do here.
We managed to fit in so much in 5 days:
Sunset dhow cruise
Full day stiletto
Whale watching
Horse riding in the sea
Scuba Diving
We seen a dugong and dolphins on the full day stiletto which was the icing on the cake of the day. The food here was so interesting as the chef told us that be just decides what to cook depending on what fish I caught.
On our final night our lovely butler (Ania) set up our table on the beach surrounded by lights which felt so romantic and a good sign off for the 17 days.”

If you’re ever thinking of booking through Mahlatini I would highly recommend it. It made the honeymoon run seamlessly and we didn’t have to think of a single thing. Especially after having to plan the wedding a few days before! So thank you Nicki!”
