Honeymoon to South Africa & Zimbabwe

The hotels and road transfers were all great. Very nice hotels and someone was always there to pick us up. However, we had a pretty healthy budget and anyone can find nice hotels. There are certain aspects I would have expected to have been handled better by using a travel agency. We told our specialist that we are very into wine and asked questions about shipping wine back to the US. The information given to us was incorrect and if we had known that none of the wineries ship direct to the US, we could have ended our trip in Franschhoek instead of starting it there. We get 6 free checked bags on our airline and could have brought back several cases of wine at no cost. However, since we started our trip in Franschhoek, we could not bring wine on the small airlines they booked us on. We were also told to apply for our Zambian visa online and the website is awful and we never got our visa. We paid online for 2 visas and then had to pay again when we arrived in Zambia. Other guests we met throughout our trip were told by their agency to NOT apply online and get it on arrival. If we had been told this by Mahlatini, we could have saved $100 and a huge headache. Our flight out of Sabi Sands was cancelled and the communication was not handled well at all. Mahlatini did not even contact us to let us know the flight was cancelled, we were told last minute at 6am by our hotel. We were ready and excited for our last game drive and instead had to run around and pack and leave to get a car service back to the airport otherwise we would have missed the following flight.
