Honeymoon to Mauritius & South Africa

Mr & Mrs Reardon, 3rd September 2012
Overall Rating:

All of it was amazing – we loved every minute! Our absolute favourite part was the safari – Serondella lodge provided outstanding service & we would definitely go back. Every game drive was exciting & I felt like the staff went out of their way to ensure our stay was perfect. Other highlights (in no particular order!) were: • Spending a day driving the coastal roads of the cape, taking in Simonstown, Table Mountain National Park, Chapmans Peak drive & finishing with sundowners in Camps Bay. Dinner at the 12 Apostles hotel was fantastic. • A full day wine tour organised by River Manor in Stellenbosch – the best way to spend a rainy day! (I’m really sorry I can’t remember the name of the company – but our guide was Eileen Swanepoel) • A boat trip from Gansbaai (we went with Dyer Island cruises) & saw sharks, whales, dolphins & seals. • Driving the R62 out to Oudtshoorn - La Plume was an excellent place to stay & eating ostrich was an unexpected delight! • Unlimited cocktails & unlimited time lying on a beautiful Mauritian beach.

Accommodation Visited

Cape Cadogan Boutique Hotel

“This was a wonderful place to stay, 10/10, perfect location – really convenient & safe, beautiful room (with honeymoon treats on our first night! – petals in the bath, champagne), delicious breakfast and really excellent service. They booked tickets & taxis for us, had lots of advice for restaurants etc & we loved the little extras like port & snacks in the communal lounge in the evenings & giving us the next day’s weather forecast & hot water bottles each night.”

River Manor Boutique Hotel & Spa

“Another great place, not quite as personal as Cape Cadogen but again excellent service. I really liked that we were in Stellenbosch town as we could walk around town and do some wine tasting & have dinner without having to worry about driving or getting a taxi.”

“Great location, really nice staff, booked our boat trip for us & recommended restaurants.”

La Plume Boutique Guest House

“Loved this place! The style was amazing (our room was in the main house) and dinner was excellent. Really relaxing. 10/10 again.”

“This was probably the most down to earth place we stayed and a bit of a walk from the town but we had the most fantastic afternoon sat drinking wine with the owners (Cecil & ?!) and their friends. They made it a great place to stay.”

Serondella Game Lodge

“Absolutely perfect. Lovely staff who couldn’t do more for us. Excellent food – we had a brai one night which we loved! Beautiful room & completely unpretentious. It suited us perfectly that it was so small.”

DaVinci Hotel and Suites

“Completely different from every else we stayed! Great for one night only – in Mandela Square was perfect. Actually the worst breakfast we had the whole stay & average service.”

Heritage Awali Golf & Spa Resort

“Beautiful hotel & wonderful beach. Lots of activities to do but equally relaxing. Appreciated the free massage and extensive cocktail menu. Service could be a little variable & the booking system for restaurants was annoyingly inflexible. Food was generally very good, but we didn’t get to try two of the best restaurants which was disappointing.”

Staff Review

“Our whole trip was expertly planned and so carefully organised every time we had to leave a place we felt it was at just the right time! We had enough free time to feel as if we weren’t on a tour but enough guidance to feel we weren’t wasting precious time arranging or planning. I felt like Nikki really understood what we wanted, for example I loved that we stayed in small guest houses, not big hotels – this was just our style. She prepared us for the trip extremely well with lots of practical information and was always available to answer our questions & offer advice.
Perhaps the only time we felt things weren’t exactly as we would have liked was leaving Thorneybush early (before the morning game drive) to drive 4 hours to Nelspruit airport when Hoedspruit airport was so much closer. We presumed this was for financial reasons? Ideally we would have much preferred a later flight to Johannesburg if that would have meant we could have had one last game drive! That really is the only area we felt could have been better.
Overall, we were extremely impressed with Malahtinis service – we have been recommending you to all our friends and hope to book with you again soon!”
