vacation to South Africa & Mozambique
Zach Matthews, 18th June 2024The honeymoon trip was amazing!! Everything was perfectly coordinated throughout the trip and all the coordinated transfers were incredibly helpful. We were never trying to make any travel decisions ourselves. I felt our itinerary was perfectly spaced out as well, we weren't in any location for too little time or too much time. The Cape Town to Safari to Beach itinerary also provided us with very different experiences which was wonderful and ended on a relaxing beach. Cape Town and Mozambique were great but the safari was our favorite part! It was a once-in-a-lifetime trip and overall we wouldn't do much differently!
Accommodation Visited
Victoria & Alfred Hotel
“This hotel was very nice and we liked being on the waterfront. The view of Table Mountain was awesome and the breakfast was also very good. Overall, a very solid hotel and we enjoyed how much was around the V&A Waterfront area.”
Shumbalala Game Lodge
“This place was perfect and was the most incredible place we've ever stayed. Not only was the lodge/room incredible but the people were absolutely amazing. I would highly recommend Shumbalala to anyone looking to do a safari. Our Guide Jordy and Tracker Tony were very insightful and we learned a lot from them. This place really went above and beyond making sure our honeymoon stay was special and everything they did was honestly perfect.”
Benguerra Island Lodge
“The beach was absolutely perfect, the food was amazing, and the people were also incredible. We had some issues with our room however and it would have been good to know the differences between the Cabana and the Casinha ahead of time. Basically, the Cabana is totally open and there are massive gaps in the walls and roofs and no screens in the windows (the lack of screens seems like an incredibly easy fix).
We expected some bugs in the room given the climate but this room felt like we were sleeping outside. Along with bugs, geckos, and frogs, we had a bird pooping all over the room. Management at the property basically said, "Oh well there's not much we can do, hopefully, the bird goes away". On the last night, one of the Casinha rooms opened up and they moved us. The difference was very clear. Every screen had a window and the roof had no gaps. All the critters that were in the other room were not in this room.
Overall, while the beach and activities were great, the price of this place is very hard to justify in my opinion. For the amount of money we paid, I think it's ridiculous to have a bird pooping all over your room.”

“Caroline was so helpful in putting this wonderful itinerary together. It was so well planned that we didn't need to reach out to the Mahlatini team once during our 2 weeks since we had no issues. There was someone assisting us the entire way. I would recommend Mahlatini to anyone looking to do a similar trip as ours!”
