Asilia Ol Pejeta Bush Camp
“Incredible experience at Ol Pejeta from start to finish. Their location along the riverside was idyllic, the staff was very attentive, friendly and genuine, and the food was outstanding. We felt at home from the moment we arrived. We believe we were also incredibly lucky with the guide we got (Abde) who made the experience so special for us. The conservancy was so vibrant with different animals and the landscape was dynamic.”
Asilia Encounter Mara
“While we enjoyed Encounter Mara, we didn’t feel the same vibe here as Ol Pejeta. We felt a little more like we were on a conveyor belt of guests and with slight disinterest from management. That said all of the staff were incredibly nice and the food was again outstanding. The accommodation was nice however the bedsheets (pillowcases) were unclean. We saw a cheetah and a leopard but nothing else. There were significantly fewer animals here and we drove around the same roads over and over again. We had selected Encounter with the hope of seeing the migration but it turns out it was a 6-hour drive away. Our guide was lackluster and didn’t really say much during the drives. Not sure if we would recommend it as a place to go in the Maasai Mara. Coming from such a high at Ol Pejeta we were just a little disappointed here overall but still had a lovely time.”

“Such a stunning hotel and room. The dining options were good and the guides were excellent. On check-out, we learned that we had a lunch/dinner included in the price with the day room on the following day, but weren’t informed of this and our guide had double-checked the package details at reception that morning. They couldn’t do anything for us, or discount the previous night's dinner so we were a little let down by that.”

“A very very special place. We had a chalet right at the end so we felt truly secluded. Just an amazing experience. Wasn’t prepared for the amount of birds and the smell of bird droppings throughout the island which we had no problem with but other people may not like it as much! Can’t fault anything here - we were so sad leaving.”

“We had a stunning villa right at the top of the resort which was amazing. Such a beautiful room. Sadly we had some disappointments here; the spa experience was very poor (we had two young staff members who didn’t seem to know what they were doing) and the facilities were quite dated. The staff throughout the resort was not pleasant (bar a few exceptions)… and they never gave us our complimentary champagne so we had to call for it which took 1hr30mins to be delivered… we booked a day trip with the concierge and had to wait on the beach for 45mins as they forgot our booking. Just a little frustrating and not what we expected from a 5-star resort and price tag.”

“Caroline was amazing. We had made a very last-minute decision to go on this trip so we really appreciated everything Caroline did for us in the lead up. She explained all of the requirements, set our expectations, listened to our needs and quickly put together a comprehensive trip. We felt really confident in Caroline and her experience. it was nice to get the itinerary and Mahlatini goodies in the post beforehand too as well as the check-in email while we were away. We felt so well looked after.”
