Cape Cadogan Boutique Hotel

“We were actually at the More apartments at Cape Cadogan and so we had a lovely, spacious one bedroom apartment. This was my favourite accommodation of the holiday, wonderfully comfortable, great location and the benefits of a hotel as well as the freedoms of an apartment. I would totally recommend to anyone visiting Capetown.”

Spier Hotel

“I thought the Spier Hotel was good although I did find some of the service a bit hit-and-miss. People were friendly and polite but the service could be extremely slow at times and particularly in the restaurants and bars the staff didn't always seem to have a way of identifying who should be next to be served. However this did not detract from the overall experience which was very good.”

“Loved it at Ocean Eleven Guesthouse and was just a shame we only had one night there. Lovely staff, particularly the girl on reception whose name I forget. The rooms were really comfortable and nicely done with a few complimentary goodies which is always a nice touch! The views were stunning too. A short walk into Hermanus town which was very pretty. I would have liked a bit more time there, so this will be a place to re-visit again next time!!”

“Accommodation was good but unfortunately the weather was bad the night we were there and I think it has coloured my judgement a bit! Overall it was good, the rooms were big and the hotel itself had plenty of space for hanging out and relaxing. The staff also kindly cleaned our hire car for us without asking which was great as it was becoming a bit embarassing. Things like that are a really nice service when you are travelling about on holiday.”

“Bosavern was good and we had a wonderful time in Plettenberg Bay. Unfortunately, I think if I had realised beforehand that it was a small guest house in the owner's home then I think I would have asked for somewhere else. We did find it a little difficult as sound really carried through the property and our bedroom was right beside the breakfast room so as soon as the first person was up we were awake. It is purely a personal preference but I like to be a bit anonymous when on holiday so accommodation as intimate as this is not really my number one option but some people would really like this more personal style.”

“Jatinga was good but there isn't really a lot to do there so we did find ourselves having to drive into Hazyview (about an hour away) to keep my 11 year old entertained. As it is a bit remote from anything you do also find that you are fairly limited to taking meals in the lodge as otherwise it would be a drive away to find something else (and the roads around the lodge are in quite poor shape so at night that is not very appealing).”

Notten's Bush Camp

“Loved it at Nottens Bush and we had a wonderful New Year's Eve dinner there and stayed up way too late and drank too much so celebrated New Year's Day in South Africa with an horrific hangover! Dale was fantastic and he has a wonderful team there that really look after everyone. Their chef is amazing, all the food we had there was absolutely delicious and everyone raved about it. The "no electricity" really adds to the ambience of the place and the lovely open fires are fantastic in the evening.

The game drives were great and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. The guides were great with children and the 3 of us had the time of our lives on our game drives with a lot of extremely special memories to take away.”
