Adventure Holiday to Namibia
Mrs Sarah Ferguson, 9th November 2025We loved Namibia and it was a really well organised trip, with great variety. We loved our stay at Ongava especially and were treated to eating dinner whilst rhinos and lions drank at the waterhole only 20m away. The travel was easy and the landscapes vast and stunning.
Accommodation Visited
Olive Grove Guesthouse
“Friendly, organised staff who advised us how to navigate Windhoek safely. Nice, spacious rooms and lovely breakfast.”
Ongava Tented Camp
“Our favourite camp. The staff couldn't have been more attentive and friendly. Our guide, Tuly was exceptional and we had great days of tracking rhino, lion and elephant and learned so much. Orlando was a manager constantly on-hand and checking how we were enjoying our stay.
The waterhole so close to the camp was wonderful to watch at any time of the day. Excellent food.”
Damaraland Camp
“The accommodation was lovely with great views. We went on a couple of short sunset walks but felt that these could have been further and more extensive, especially as there was little wildlife near the lodge. They could really market themselves as a walking centre. The reluctance to walk far seemed to come from the staff rather than the guests. Special shout out for the guide, Job, who was young and fun. We had a fantastic sunrise breakfast which was unforgettable and again, absolutely no complaints re the food or service.”
Hoanib Valley Camp
“As mentioned above, whilst we had a great stay here and spent many happy hours watching elephants on the dry riverbed, we didn't feel it was different enough from Damaraland to warrant the journey. However, we learned a lot from the friendly, outgoing staff about the local communities as well as the wildlife Great guide - Linus.”
Strand Hotel Swakopmund
“This was a nice sojourn after many days "in the bush", we enjoyed going for a run along the coast, and visiting the gym - working off all the amazing food we had enjoyed for days!! The catamaran trip was really interesting - the hostie was informative and so knowledgeable. At times there seemed to be too many boats crowding around the dolphins and whales and we felt they were a little too close but then, we have amazing photos. Became converts to the taste of Namibian oysters ...”
Hoodia Desert Lodge
“A very special part of Namibia and lovely amenities at this resort, plus yet again, friendly, helpful staff. We had made it clear on arriving that we wanted to climb the "Big Daddy" dune and that we were quite an active family. Unfortunately, we were paired with an elderly German couple, and the guide seemed to try very hard to dissuade us from climbing and/or walking in the canyon. We were very lucky that the other guests were generous in being prepared to wait whilst we explored but it could have ended with neither group getting what they wanted from the experience. We felt we had to be quite forceful with the guide as he was very negative about all the choices we made.”
Staff Review
“Claire listened to the type of holiday we wanted and came up with a good itinerary. She was flexible and obliging when we decided our daughter would come too and I know that led to a lot of re-jigging of arrangements. She replied promptly to all my queries and we felt we had all the information we needed before and during our trip. Plus, Claire suggested and booked two great restaurants for us in Windhoek and Swakopmund.”
