Monique Robinson, 29th November 2025This is was our second time using Mahlatini for a trip, and like our first time, we were impressed! The trip looked great on paper but blew us away on the ground.

Kempinski Nile Hotel
“The Kempinski is located in a nice part of Cairo, with a great rooftop. While our room was comfortable and had a Nile view, it had two twin beds, which was not ideal, and the decor was very generic. Breakfast was good as were the onsite restaurant (though the Turkish restaurant is better than the Italian one).”
Al Moudira Hotel
“Al Moudira is a dream. For us, we had no desire to be in the city, so the quieter, more rural setting on the West Bank of Luxor was perfect for us. The boutique property is like an Oasis, with beautiful architecture and gardens, a large, inviting pool, and a functioning farm. Our room was large, comfortable, and well-appointed. The food onsite was delicious, particularly at breakfast and from the farm kitchen restaurant. The staff was very welcoming and warm and provided excellent customer service.”
Mövenpick Resort Aswan
“The Movenpick is a large hotel, and we visited just before the peak holiday season. It felt like the Movenpick was getting ready for the incoming crowds, but that it was not quite ready? The hotel is well-reviewed and the next best option if you're not staying at the nearby Sofitel Old Cataract, but having stayed at the Sofitel Old Cataract, the Movenpick feels worlds apart. I suspect the dining and service will be better when the Movenpick is at capacity during high season, but it felt a little lacking while we were there. We were also given a room with twin beds again.”
