Solo Trip to Kenya & Tanzania
Anonymous, 7th February 2026Connecting me with the Asilia safari camps was bang on! They were an amazing company to safari with. I really had no idea what to expect for my safari experience and this company went above and beyond anything I could have imagined. The only part of my trip that I would have changed a bit would have been Zanzibar. The accommodations, while lovely, were not really suitable for a solo female traveller.
Accommodation Visited
Tamarind Tree Hotel
“It was a great first stop. Staff was friendly and the room was tidy.”
Asilia Ol Pejeta Bush Camp
“While I loved all of the camps I stayed at, this one was my favourite for it's laid back and comfortable feel. There was laughter and excitement throughout, which I really appreciated. Everything about it was friendly and considerate. I think I could go back to this camp again and again.”
Asilia Oliver's Camp
“The experience here was great! I had a great guide and was amazed at the wildlife. It was a bit more difficult to be a solo traveller here, but my guide did communicate that to the manager, who made sure I had someone to dine with at dinner, which was a really nice adaptation. I loved being in the pool and watching the elephants across the way.”
Asilia Dunia Camp
“This camp was so impressive, when given the context of the women who ran and worked the camp. The setting was so lovely especially after seeing how busy the Serengeti could be, and feeling like I had a little slice of it all to myself. I also really appreciated that the overall "feel" was so calm and nurturing.”
Asilia Rubondo Island Camp
“Being able to see the chimps was great, except for the size and personality of the group we went with. Day 2 was a large, loud and pushy group which made the chimps skittish and the experience frustrating (not the camp's fault). I also found the guide to be less informed than the previous Asilia camps and things generally felt rushed.”
Breezes Beach Club & Spa
“The grounds were gorgeous. The room was beautiful and the meals were good. The staff, particularly at the bars and restaurant were reserved. I believe I was the only solo traveller at the hotel, and experienced more than once staff looking right at me and then not engaging while doing so with the table or chairs right next to me. I don't know if this was cultural or that I was just odd for being alone. I had to ask several times for beverages or water and sometimes would/would not get my request. This felt a bit frustrating.”
Staff Review
“Caroline was great! She responded to every question I had and helped "coach" me through my anxieties about the unknowns. I felt like my requests were absolutely met and that I had an overall outstanding experience because of her. Thank you so so much Caroline!”
