“Welgelegen House was one of the highlights of our trip. The property itself is absolutely gorgeous beautifully maintained, elegant, and incredibly comfortable. It felt like a peaceful retreat while still being conveniently located for exploring Cape Town.
What truly made our stay special, however, was the staff. Everyone was exceptionally welcoming and went above and beyond to make our experience memorable. They were always happy to provide recommendations, help plan activities, and even make restaurant reservations on our behalf. Their attention to detail and genuine hospitality made us feel right at home. We would highly recommend Welgelegen House to anyone visiting Cape Town and would gladly stay there again on a future trip.”
La Cotte Farm
“La Cotte Farm was truly one of the most beautiful accommodations we have ever stayed in. From the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and vineyards to the charm and comfort of the cottage itself, every detail was exceptional.
The property has everything you could want for a relaxing getaway. We found ourselves wanting to spend as much time as possible enjoying the accommodations and the scenery because it was simply that beautiful. It felt peaceful, luxurious, and uniquely special all at the same time. In fact, there were moments when we didn't even want to leave the property to explore because we were so content being there.
If you're looking for a place that combines stunning views, beautiful accommodations, and a truly unforgettable atmosphere, La Cotte Farm absolutely has it all.”
Simbavati River Lodge
“Simbavati River Lodge was such a fun and memorable place to stay. One of the things we loved most was how immersed in nature we felt throughout our visit. It wasn't uncommon to spot animals while dining, relaxing around the lodge, or even from outside our luxury tent. Those unexpected wildlife encounters made the experience feel truly special and unique.
The accommodations were wonderful, and the meals were consistently excellent. Every meal was something we looked forward to, and the setting only made the experience even better.
The true highlight of the lodge, however, was the staff. From the game drivers and trackers to our butler and the entire lodge team, everyone was absolutely amazing. They were incredibly kind, attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about making our stay unforgettable. Their warmth and hospitality made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. We left not only with incredible wildlife memories, but also with a deep appreciation for the wonderful people who made the experience so special.”
Insika Lodge
“Insika Lodge was an okay stay, but it ended up being our least favorite accommodation of the trip. While the property itself was nice, we felt the overall value did not match our expectations.
Given the location and price point, we would have expected either a more inclusive experience or additional meals to be included. We were surprised by how expensive many of the extras were, including transportation to restaurants, meals, drinks, and other activities. These costs added up quickly and made the stay feel much more expensive than anticipated.
We also found the service to be less friendly and attentive compared to the exceptional hospitality we experienced at other lodges during our trip. While everyone was professional, we did not feel the same warmth and personal attention that made our other accommodations so memorable.
The location was another challenge, as we felt it limited our opportunities to see wildlife compared to other safari experiences we had. After staying at several outstanding properties throughout our honeymoon, Insika Lodge simply did not stand out in the same way.
Overall, the stay was fine, but it was not a property we would personally choose to return to, especially given the many other exceptional accommodations available in the region.”
