Situated in the malaria-free, Big 5 Amakhala Game Reserve in South Africa's Eastern Cape region, Leeuwenbosch Country House and Shearers Lodge are the perfect combinations of old and new. Originally built in 1908, the Country House is layered with history, boasting furniture and pictures dating back to the 1800s, while Shearers Lodge, set back from the Country House, provides the property with a contemporary edge.
There are 4 historic en-suite bedrooms in the Country House and 4 modern double suites in Shearers Lodge. The Country House is ideal for families with a children's program, babysitting service and 2 family suites. For those looking for something slightly more romantic, a honeymoon suite is available at Shearer's Lodge, surrounded by charming indigenous gardens.
Aside from exciting drives in the game-rich reserve, guests can relax and cool off in the swimming pool or sit out upon the veranda and watch wildlife casually pass by. Explore the deep history of the property's 19th-century stone chapel and enjoy a late-night cocktail at the cellar bar. Having been in the Fowlds family for five generations, this family-owned property is extremely warm and friendly.
