Marataba Safari Lodge is a luxurious tented safari camp in the Marataba reserve, a 21,000-hectare (52,000-acre), privately managed section of the Marakele National Park, in South Africa's Waterberg region. This malaria-free reserve is only 3.5 hour drive from Johannesburg and 45 minutes by private air charter.
The 15 tents possess a slick contemporary design that melds with the surrounding wilderness thanks to an excellent choice of colors, a canvas roof and part stone-part canvas walls. From your private balcony, you can gaze across at the Waterberg Mountains, rising nearby. All rooms include viewing decks, outdoor and indoor showers and a romantic stand-alone bath. An unbelievably magical place, from the breathtaking surroundings to the welcome and the service from all the staff at the lodge was impeccable, the food was incredible! The attention to detail in every aspect was second to none, and we truly had the best time we've ever had on a family holiday!
Our guide, Hugh, was very knowledgeable. We learned a lot and loved our time on the safari. The staff was terrific and kind. Our daughter has diet restrictions and they were wonderful at accommodating them.
