Once the mansion of a British Governor, Galle Face Hotel is one of South Asia’s Grande Dames, a 19th century hotel situated in the heart of Colombo. It’s set along the seafront, on the edge of the famous Galle Face Green, the city’s main seaside promenade. The hotel has welcomed royalty, film stars and countless celebrities over its 150-year existence. Expect superb fine dining, croquet on the lawn, elegant teas, and room décor with a nod to the past.

There are a variety of room types spread across two wings. Many rooms offer spectacular sea views, some with a private balcony, and all furnished in a colonial style. The many dining experiences at Galle Face Hotel are legendary, and a ‘must do’ whilst in Colombo. Enjoy afternoon tea at The Verandah, or a Pimms cup on the Chequerboard terrace. The hotel’s fine dining restaurant 1864 Limited Edition has an innovative modern menu. If you happen to be at the hotel on a Tuesday or Thursday, the hotel's historian offers a guided tour through the hotel's architectural highlights as well as relating various stories and legends of years past.
