Leopard Trails is a luxury tented camp set on the borders of the dense and picturesque Wilpattu National Park, the largest in Sri Lanka. Leopards are the specialty here, but you may also see sloth bears, barking deer, mugger crocodiles and Asian elephants. Wilpattu is also a place of great archaeological and historical importance. Daytime game drives are the main activity however, you can also enjoy guided bush walks, or cruise across the nearby lake in a traditional ‘oruwa’ raft in search of birds, ending with a sunset G&T.
Sleeping under canvas will get you much closer to nature. The camp offers air-conditioned deluxe tents as well as suites. The suites are larger with a touch more luxury and an indoor as opposed to an open-air shower. The camp has a good-sized lounge tent with deep-set sofas for a chill out, and a small library. There's a small bar where you can grab a drink to enjoy around the firepit under the stars. Dine on Western and Sri Lankan cuisine in multiple memorable locations, including al fresco in the light
of a 'bush chandelier' of old-school kerosene lamps.
