Discover Greystoke Mahale

Remote and beautiful, Greystoke Mahale sits in the shadow of the towering Mahale Mountains on a strip of untouched white beach, lapped by the crystal clear waters of Lake Tanganyika. Tucked into the trees, the camp is small and secluded and is only accessible by boat.

The distinctive main camp area is the only part of the property that is situated on the beach, with the 6 thatched bandas hidden away in the forest. Rooms pervade natural simplicity but are comfortable and blend effortlessly with their surroundings. All bandas possess large beds, en-suite bathrooms with a flush toilet, hot and cold running water, a shower, and an upstairs decking area where you can sit out and enjoy the view. The lodge is built almost entirely from sustainable materials from the local area. The main activity from camp is tracking chimpanzees. More than a simple activity, tracking these amazing creatures is an incredible experience and certainly the most memorable element of a stay here. Watch them go about their daily routines and observe the glaring similarities with our own interactions. Aside from the chimps, you can bathe in ice cool mountain waterfalls and pools, go on forest walks and enjoy fishing along Lake Tanganyik's shore.
