Set in almost 3 hectares of land, Plantation Lodge is surrounded by coffee plantations and a working farm, just outside of the Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area. The lodge is conveniently placed, with the Lake Manyara and Tarangire national parks both nearby, so there is a very wide scope of game and scenery to take in. The lodge is owner run and comprised of staff from the local area, offering friendly service and an intimate atmosphere.
The general decor of Plantation Lodge echoes a distinctive colonial style, with nicely furnished standard rooms, 7 suites, a family unit, and the Garden House. The standard rooms are scattered amongst pretty gardens, and all vary slightly in style. All standard rooms provide mosquito nets over beds and en-suite bathrooms. The Garden House is well suited to larger parties, while the suites have something for everybody, with the Jacaranda Suite perfect for honeymooners. A dining area and lounge form the main area of the lodge, with traditional high ceilings and tiled flooring and an inviting swimming pool. The main activity is day trips to the Ngorongoro Crater, however, after the safari you can visit the coffee plantation, go for a hike, indulge in a massage, or enjoy a sundowner on the bar’s terrace.

A fantastic base to explore the caldera of Ngorongoro and lake Manyara. The lodge had a colonial feel to it, the facilities were again excellent and we looked forward to the meals every night after a long day out on safari.
