Asilia Usangu Expedition Camp
Set within Tanzania’s wild and under-visited Ruaha National Park, Usangu Expedition Camp is a 4-tent, simple camp, where the focus sits firmly on the exploratory nature of the experience with meals cooked on the open fire and enjoyed under the African stars. The camp is surrounded by grassy marshlands and floodplains where you will boat and canoe through the waterways amongst an array of birdlife and walk the wide-open grasslands during the dry season months. There’s also the opportunity to join in conservation activities with the neighbouring Douglas Bell Eco Research Station.
The tents are simple in design yet comfortable. They are raised on wooden decking with views towards the wetlands. Each has a shaded veranda on which to relax and en suite bathrooms with feature flushing toilets and plumbed showers. During your stay you will have your own private vehicle and guide, allowing for complete flexibility. Mornings are best for game drives and walking. In the mid-afternoon you will relax under the trees with a book before heading off in the late afternoon on a boating safari or spending time in the field with a researcher. You can participate in research activities such as the positioning of camera traps, image analysis for predator identification and tracking collared lions using telemetry.
