Inn on the Vumba
Inn on the Vumba is an excellent stop over accommodation, ideal for a rest before moving on to another destination in Zimbabwe. Overlooking a sweeping valley this mountain-top boutique hotel is warm and homely with wonderful views and only a 10 minute drive from the city of Mutare. From the lodge guests can easily move off to the south-east lowlands, the ancient ruined city of Great Zimbabwe and the Chimanimani Mountains, or hop across the nearby boarder and explore all that Mozambique has to offer.
Guests can expect two blocks comprising 18 en-suite rooms and four cottages, each possessing two bedrooms. While rooms are not the height of luxury they are comfortable and are a welcome place to stay after a hard day spent exploring or travelling. The main area provides two lounge areas, a restaurant and bar and a swimming pool.
While the lodge may be only 10 minutes outside of the city, Inn on the Vumba allows guests to slip away into the lush, green countryside, with views of the Vumba Mountains, which can be explored through hiking, game drives and bird watching. Guests can also visit the Mbiga Falls, Lake Alexander and the Smallbridge Dam and the Mutare Museum. The Cecil Kop Game Reserve and the La Rochelle Gardens are also in close vicinity to the lodge.
