Busanga is a rustic bush camp situated in the heart of the Busanga Plains in Zambia's, Kafue National Park: vast mosaic of expansive grassy seasonal floodplains that extends to the horizon. Hidden in a tree-island of sycamore fig trees the camp accommodates 8 guests in 4 well-appointed tents. This small camp epitomizes the concept of 'wild' with its location in the epicentre of a pristine wilderness which delivers exciting wildlife encounters including some of the best lion viewing in Africa as well as incredible birding (491 species). Thanks to the rising mist off the floodplains as they dry up in winter, you can experience incredible sunrises and sunsets, with the sun a spectacular pink color.
Despite the rustic nature of the camp you won't compromise on comfort in the rooms. Each has 2 large queen-sized beds and the en-suite bathroom is enclosed but roofless featuring a flush toilet, hot showers and even cotton dressing gowns. Offering uninterrupted views out over the plains with herds of lechwe and puku feeding, the lounge and bar area is also under canvas. Most meals are served in the open air under a majestic tree from which an unusual lantern chandelier hangs, romantically lighting up dinner.
Busanga Bush Camp is approximately a 1h45 minute flight from Livingstone to the North Kafue and an approximately a 1hr40 minute flight from Lusaka. From the Busanga airstrip guests are transferred by helicopter (approximately 6-7 minutes) to the camp.
Morning and night game drives and walking safaris.
