Luangwa Bush Camping

Operated by Robin Pope Safaris in the Nsefu sector of Zambia's South Luangwa National Park, Luangwa Bush Camping is a two or three day walking safari, led by an experienced walking guide. Accommodating a maximum of four guests the bush camping experience is offered from either Tena Tena or Nsefu Camp where you would walk between the two camps, camping along the way.

The experience allows you to get deeper into the bush than the fixed camps. The camps are simple but with that extra touch of comfort. Each of the tents is a walk-in tent A frame safari tent with mattresses on the ground including sheets and blankets. Outside the tent are individual wash basins and a shared 60L bucket shower and bush loo. The camp is fully serviced (except laundry) and serves delicious food under the stars beside the camp fire.

The walks are accompanied by an expert guide and armed game scout and take place in one of the most lagoon rich areas of the Luangwa and hence the game is superb. From one camp to the next is varied and interesting terrain. Adding a different dimension to a vehicle based safari, walking safaris allow one to fully get to grips with the sounds, sights and smells of the bush. Whilst walkers do often encounter the larger animals which is extremely exhilarating, often the focus falls on smaller species, spoor, tracks and the bird life. Luangwa Bush Camping operates every year in the dry season between June and October.
