Shumba Camp

Located in the Busanga Plains in the Kafue National Park, Shumba Camp stands in the centre of this wildlife paradise, with its view stretching 360 degrees across the plains to the miombo woodland in the hazy distance. Perfectly situated within close proximity to permanent water and having access to nearby floodplains ensures that as the dry season progresses a full set of antelope moves onto the plains in front of the camp including red lechwe, puku, roan, wildebeest, zebra, buffalo and many more. These prove a big attraction for predators such as wild dog, cheetah and prides of lions, sometimes up to 20 strong!

Six spacious luxurious safari tents are all on raised platforms and provide spectacular views of the surrounding plains, best viewed from your own outdoor shower! The elevated dining and area is designed to take in the spectacular vistas and awesome sunrises. Meals are taken here and are usually cooked on the fire in front of guests to enhance the safari experience.

Shumba places great emphasis on the 'guided' experience - being led by qualified, enthusiastic people with in-depth knowledge of the area and its wildlife. Shumba Camp is closed seasonally between 01 November and 01 June each year.

Getting There

Approximately a 1hr45 minute flight from Livingstone to the North Kafue and an approximately a 1hr40 minute flight from Lusaka. From the Busanga airstrip guests are transferred by helicopter (approximately 6-7 minutes) to the camp.
