Chiawa Camp
The seasonal Chiawa Camp rests peacefully on the banks of the Zambezi River, under a grove of evergreen Mahogany trees. In the heart of Zambia's Lower Zambezi National Park the camp offers varied activities such as game drives, walking, canoeing, boating and fishing in the presence of Africa's finest guides.
The owners say their 'tents' set a new standard for Zambia in bush luxury whilst still retaining the rustic and unpretentious feel that Chiawa is so well loved for. All tents have timber floors and verandas looking out on either the dry riverbed or facing the Zambezi directly. Comforts and conveniences include flushing loos, 24-hour lighting, hot & cold water, 220v electric power for fans and charging batteries, indoor and outdoor showers, ball & claw baths complemented by Molton Brown amenities and mosquito nets. Renowned for its excellent cuisine the camp's specialty is Afro/Euro fusion food usually served al-fresco, sometimes in the bush or even on a boat in the middle of the Zambezi. Enjoy a cocktail in the stunning thatched lounge/bar area with an upstairs viewing deck providing one of the best views of the Zambezi River.

If there was a downside, it was that we did not see many lions (tw…
