Little Ruckomechi Camp lies in the heart of the Zambezi Valley in the Mana Pools National Park. It is a remote and beautiful place offering spectacular views. This intimate camp offers opportunities to get up close to nature amongst the iconic albida trees that characterise the area. Situated within the private Ruckomechi Concession, the camp ensures its guests an exclusive safari experience through a diverse range of activities from boating and canoeing to walking and game drives.
Mana Pools is one of the greatest wildlife areas of Africa. It is home to large concentrations of buffalo and elephant, while predators such as lion, wild dog, leopard and cheetah are often sighted. The surrounding plains have abundant Greater kudu, Burchell's zebra, impala, warthog and common waterbuck and the grunting of hippo can be heard all day. Birdlife is superb, with numerous local specials like racket-tailed roller and collared palm-thrush.
Little Ruckomech is a 'home from home' experience offering an authentic, stylish bush camp feel. Built on wooden decks, the en-suite tents are airy and elegant; a reminder of the by-gone explorer era. The living spaces include a dining room and lounge as well as a plunge pool all looking out over the great Zambezi River and the Zambian foothills in the distance.
Light aircraft flight from Harare into Mana West Airstrip followed by a 20-minute drive to the camp. A road and boat transfer from Lusaka or Victoria Falls is possible but would take approximately 5 hours.
Game drives, birding, river cruises, catch and release fishing and nature walks.
