Ruckomechi Camp
Taking shade from a grove of trees, on the banks of the mighty Zambezi River, Ruckomechi Camp owns a brilliant location, with sweeping views across the water to the rising mountains of Africa's Great Rift Valley. Found in the Mana Pools National Park, the camp offers a number of water based activities, including canoeing and boat trips. There are a number of facilities found in camp, including a lounge, dining room and bar along with an expansive decking area with infinity pool, perfect for midday relaxation, and a star gazing deck.
The area is rich in large game, with a very strong elephant population; you can also expect to see hippo, buffalo and eland. During the winter months the river becomes a hotspot for wildlife and guests can enjoy some casual game viewing from the lodge. The camp aims for an eco-friendly approach with lighting and hot water in tents provided by solar power. There are 10 tented suites at Ruckomechi and all with excellent views of the Zambezi River. All accommodation is en-suite, with outdoor and indoor showers and an outdoor bath that boasts further vistas. In-between activities you can sit out on the wooden decking and relax in the surrounding wilderness and enjoy a comfortable night's sleep in the roomy beds with fresh linen sheets.

Our guide Mundoga (? spelling)maybe was not quite up to Dickson's standard but his wife had died within the previous month so understandably he seemed a bit distracted at times. He did manage to predict a lion kill - of a young buffalo - a got us in exactly the right positio…

This camp has just had a stunning refurbishment to the guest tents and is now magnificent! Again, the staff and food were five star and our guide Mhondogo was exceptional. The elephants come into the camp every day to eat the pods from the Albida trees right outside the tents.

Beautiful camp and fun/exciting to have the elephants around camp so much. Most tent-like rooms (in a perfect world, you'd start with the Ruckomechi tent rooms and end with the Nxabega tent rooms since Nxabega tents are hard to compete with). A better separation of the toilet from the rest of the t…
