Desiree whet her appetite for travel by first exploring the enchanting cities of her home country, Italy. A trip to the Renaissance city of Florence led Desiree to fall in love with the history, art, and gourmet cuisine of Tuscany. After experiencing the cultural beauty of such an iconic city, Desiree decided to extend her travels throughout Europe, Ireland, and the UK.

In 2016 Desiree moved from Milan to the UK where she is currently studying International Travel and Tourism Management. Desiree assists within the Operations and Marketing teams at Mahlatini, gaining invaluable and specialist knowledge to aid in the remainder of her studies.

MOST MEMORABLE TRIP

My most memorable experience has to be in Turkey. Situated in Cappadocia I was mesmerized by our stay in one of the amazing cave hotels. The beauty of Goreme Open Air Museum and Uchisar Castle left me speechless. Mixing with the locals and learning about their culture truly made this an authentic and unforgettable experience. The best part of the trip was watching the orange sunrise against a tapestry of hot air balloons.

Top Of My Bucket-List

South Africa is most definitely at the top of my travel wish list. I would love to do a walking safari in the Kruger National Park (the original safari experience!) and witness the Big 5. Whale watching off the coast of South Africa would also be another must-see.

Top Travel Tip

Bring a comfy travel pillow and noise-canceling earpods! They never leave my side and help me sleep on long-haul flights so that I can feel refreshed and ready to start my holiday as soon as I land.

The Best Part Of My Job

Working at Mahlatini has been an invaluable experience. I’m learning so much about sustainable tourism and all the lodges and suppliers that we work with. It's hard not to fall absolutely in love with the African continent and I look forward to experiencing my first safari one day.
