Though this lodge is remote, it is well worth the journey as the rugged beauty of the landscape will leave you captivated. Fish River Lodge is the only lodge perched directly on the rim of the world's second largest canyon offering views to die for from sunrise to sunset. Situated within the privately owned reserve of The Canyon Nature Park, the setting is enhanced by 45,000ha of ancient kokerboom trees and 60km of river frontage. Here you can expect to spot kudu, zebra, oryx and baboon.
The lodge chalets are minimalist and beautiful with floor to ceiling windows and outdoor decks to maximize the beauty of the scenery. The outdoor decks are also big enough to sleep under the stars when the weather is warm enough. The main lodge serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and in the evening guests gather around the fire to chat about their day. There is charcoal lap pool in front of the indoor/outdoor bar area which overlooks the Canyon and is ideal for cooling off in on warmer days.

The place and location are very special. Our only reason for not giving a 5 was the cost of the excursions, given the remoteness and beautiful nature of the place we believe they should all be included as there is no other choice when here.
