Honeymoon to Zambia, South Africa & Mauritius

Sarah & David Parker, 30th January 2012
Overall Rating:

Seeing the falls was amazing and the microlight flight for an ariel view was definitely worth the money. The Royal Livingstone was lovely, we even got offered clean tea cups with our second cup of tea! The Simbambili lodge was similalry lovely, with a beautiful balcony with private plunge pool and some of the nicest food on the trip. They made special arrangements for me being vegetarian and nothing was too much trouble ( and of course great game viewing!)

Countries Visited

Mauritius

“Very clean and quiet island
We did a tour of the South of the island. You could prbably fill a day or two visiting the islands sights. Other than that ou could do as much or little as you liked.”

South Africa

“A lot less intrusive than some African countries re tipping etc
Would definitely go on another safari - saw all he animals except a lion so would like to go back to do that!
Our luggage was lost for four nights when we arrived in South Africa - would advise everyone to pack clothes in your hand luggage if visiting this country as it seemed to be a very common problem!”

Zambia

“Limited view of the country as we travelled straight to the falls. Would recommend a trip to the falls to anyone. Good time to go as the falls were at a good level. Three nights is enough if you are only visiting the falls. The Royal Livingstone was definitley a nicer honeymoon option than the Zambezi Sun as very luxurious and lovely coloniol feel.”

Accommodation Visited

The Royal Livingstone Hotel by Anantara

“Very luxurious
High tea - given as a honeymoon extra - a lovely touch
Dinner at the main restaurant not as expensive as we thought”

“Lovely friendly feel, very down to earth staff. We had an unrequested upgrade which was a lovely surprise and wish we had stayed another night”

Simbambili Game Lodge

“Extremely friendly staff, lovely accommodation - completely self contained and private. Excellent food and staff made dinner arrangements different every night with a nice combination of group and couple meals.”

Heritage Awali Golf & Spa Resort

“Nice hotel, not as higher standard as the other two. We did have an issue with the honeymoon meal when we were told we could not have a sea view table at dinner which was then taken by a french couple and then given squid rather than chicken starter which was cold. This was however dealy with by a manager and we had a nice meal on our last night. We had issues with not being able to book in at any of the restaurants due to only being there a week and some of the waiter service was not as good as the other hotels but probably due to it being bigger hotel. Still very relaxing and very close to the beach though. Would probably not recommend this hotel as per the other two.”

Staff Review

“Excellent advice, quick replies and details of when we would be updated with new invoices/itineraries. Easy to understand paperwork and bills an excellent travel pack answering all our questions. Excellent transfers were arranged in the countries we visited always being on time with knowledgeable and friendly drivers. We felt very relaxed and safe knowing everything was in hand.”
