Holiday to Namibia

Ann and Deryck Braun, 19th March 2012
Overall Rating:

This was definitely a holiday to remember! Mahlatini pulled out all the stops, from the excellent choice of venues, to their very efficient and friendly service, they ensured that we didn't have to think of anything! Everything went like clockwork -- we were completely spoiled from the moment we arrived in Windhoek. That's what I call a holiday! Thank you, Mahlatini! We could never have done it without you!

Countries Visited

Namibia

“First of all the people! They are so proud of their country and regaled us with its history and told us all about its enormous quantities of natural resources. We learned so much and would love to return and see more of it.
The landscape of the country is unlike anything I've ever seen before -- so remote and barren yet so beautiful.”

Accommodation Visited

Olive Grove Guesthouse

“A lovely little guest house in a quiet location in Windhoek. The staff were charming and helpful and the food was delicious.”

Desert Rhino Camp

“For us, the stay at Desert Rhino Camp was the highlight of the holiday. The Wilderness Safaris staff were, without exception, fantastic and the experience of going with the trackers from Save the Rhino was unforgettable. It was definitely a good decision to fly to the camps as it gave us an incredible impression of the fascinating geology and vastness of Namibia and also the remoteness of the camp when seen from the air. The accommodation in the tents was superb and the meals were delicious. Even the meals when we were on game drives were beautifully presented -- I'll never forget the canvas 'wash hand basin' for freshening up before lunch in the middle of nowhere, and those deliciously ice-cold towels and glasses of sherry that awaited us after our sundowner drive!”

“The flight from Desert Rhino to Kulala Wilderness Camp was an unmissable experience. To see the landscape change from the semi-desert of Damaraland, down the Skeleton Coast to the desert at Swakopmund and then on to Kulala was a fascinating geography lesson!
The accommodation and staff at Kulala were delightful. Joas, our guide, took us on a memorable trip to the dunes at Sossusvlei and the Sesriem Canyon as well as to great locations for sundowners to enjoy those incomparable Namibian sunsets! It's almost impossible to describe the stark beauty of the dunes and even more impossible to believe that all that sand came from the Kalahari 135 million years ago. I always thought that the colour was exaggerated in photographs but, no, they are bright rusty red!”

Staff Review

“Excellent service on all counts! The recommendations we were given for accommodation and activities were exactly the sort of holiday we were hoping for but wouldn't have had a clue how to arrange ourselves!”
