Honeymoon to Kenya & Mauritius
Victoria Marston, 27th February 2023We had an amazing time on our honeymoon and couldn't have wished for better service from Mahlatini. Everything ran really smoothly throughout the trip meaning we didn't have to worry about anything which is exactly what we wanted. The booking process was really smooth and Caroline took away all the stress of booking such a big trip.

“Ideal stopover hotel, clean and spacious room. The only issue was a flooding shower as it had a slightly odd design. The late-night food that was served was very welcome after a long flight and a decent breakfast was included.”
Giraffe Manor
“The most magical experience and a truly amazing hotel. The staff, setting, food, drinks and obviously the giraffes made for an incredible stay and excellent service made it all feel very special throughout. It was a great start to our honeymoon and definitely a once-in-a-lifetime stay that will be hard to beat.”

“Another amazing experience, being greeted as we got off the plane by our guide Fred and a welcome picnic was the start of an incredible stay. The staff all went above and beyond in making it amazing. The food and hospitality were incredible (with them paying special attention to my dietary requirements which was much appreciated) and the staff made sure our room was always in excellent shape and hot water bottles on our beds in the evening were a lovely touch. Our guide's passion for the Maasai Mara and the animals was just amazing to see making our game drives so memorable, we just loved every minute of it. Nothing was too much trouble and felt like a very personal stay.”

“While the setting of this hotel was beautiful, with tastefully decorated rooms and communal spaces, we felt it missed the mark in a lot of areas. The hotel makes a big focus on their website about the green/sustainability aspects which is one of the things that appealed to us, and while there were a la carte options, the breakfast and dinner buffet was definitely not sustainable or 'green'. Far too much was cooked and just left on the side and inevitably thrown away. Having signed up for an all-inclusive stay, we were surprised by how much was an added extra, the hotel often went to the trouble of setting up things, such as sunset cocktails on the beach which was an extra cost, but no one turned up for it which seemed a bit silly. Also charging nearly £20 for a group gym/pilates class, again which no one did, seems just a shame. The honeymoon treats we were offered seemed very lackluster and didn't leave much of a special honeymoon effect on the holiday. At first, the celebrations team planned all 5 activities in 1 day, and was reluctant to change any of it. The tropical and tasty breakfast by the pool's water edge was just the breakfast buffet that they bought over to the table next to the pool at the main restaurant. The canapés and bubbles we were offered on our terrace were a nice idea in theory, but 2 tiny canapés and 1 lukewarm glass of Prosecco each that we could have just gotten from the bar wasn't much of a treat. I will say that the massages were excellent though!
The hotel was also extremely busy, which obviously can't be helped, but there was definitely a sun bed issue with people going down first thing to reserve beds but not sitting on them for 3 hours or more which is a shame and the 45 minute rule was definitely not enforced by the hotel. The staff did a good job of keeping on top of a very busy hotel and service was very good at meal times and at the bar.
Even though we didn't love this hotel, it definitely didn't have a negative impact on the trip and it was still a beautiful setting and island.”

“Caroline did a great job throughout the planning, just before we left for our trip and also checking in with us while we were out. She kept us updated throughout and provided lots of info on all aspects and answered all our questions. There was a minor blip with our flight days but Caroline quickly resolved this and gave us a complimentary night to make up for the mistake which was great. In hindsight, our only comment would be to have a bit more of a breakdown of the costs for the various parts of the trip but I'm sure this would have been provided if we had asked. Overall, we would definitely use Mahlatini again, thanks for arranging such a special trip for us.”
