Honeymoon to Tanzania

“What a lovely place! We really enjoyed our time here - the staff were all amazingly friendly and we even got upgraded to the Retreat for our last 3 nights - it was beyond incredible! We did a few activities but mostly just relaxed, which was great.”

“We absolutely loved this camp, and the area in general. Jeff and Ilze were amazing hosts and really great company - you can tell they really love what they do. We really loved how isolated and wild the Selous is - landing on a red dirt airstrip with nothing else in sight was an amazing start to the adventure! Our guide, Hermide, was fantastic and unbelievably knowledgeable. We saw so many animals, and a highlight was spending a night fly camping - so incredible! The camp itself was beautiful, with incredible views across the Rufiji river. Falling asleep to the sounds of hippos and hyenas was really special, and the monkeys jumping around our bungalow in the morning were hilarious! It was very hot whilst we were there, despite a few short periods of rain that cooled everything down and were lovely. Swimming the the lovely pool overlooking the river was welcome relief from the heat! The food and service from the camp staff was excellent - we still can't believe how they manage to serve such lovely fresh food in the middle of nowhere!”

Gibb's Farm

“This is a really lovely lodge - the outstanding food was definitely a highlight! The whole place was very English, with beautiful gardens and quaint (but huge!) cottages. Our cottage overlooked the farm, which was great. We attended a couple of the nightly fireside talks, and they were really interesting. We especially liked sitting by the fire with Herman, discussing Tanzanian history and politics - he is incredibly knowledgeable and so interesting to talk to! All of the staff were fantastic, and they made our honeymoon really special - we were given presents, champagne and private tables with lovely views at dinner time (rather than eating in the main restaurant). The staff (including the kitchen staff) even came to our table and sang Jambo Bwana, and gave us a 'happy wedding' cake - so amazing! It was definitely a beautiful area and really different to our other experiences in Africa.”

Lamai Serengeti

“Set on a kopje overlooking the Serengeti, this camp is absolutely breathtaking and was the perfect ending to our honeymoon. We saw so much wildlife - I had wanted to go to that part of Africa to see the big cats and I wasn't disappointed! Our guide, John, was hilarious and made our game drives lots of fun. I was dying to see a cheetah as we hadn't seen one on our trip yet, and he did his best to find one for me. After three days of no cheetah sightings I had given up hope (but was glad to have an excuse to return) - on our way to the airstrip we left a little early to do one last mini game drive and ended up not only seeing two cheetahs, but saw them stalk and kill an impala! Amazing! The landscape was stunning - lush and green and SO much wildlife. The camp itself was incredible - Nic and Jana were fantastic hosts and were there to greet us before and after every game drive. They were both so friendly and really great company. The food at the camp was five star quality, and Jana even gave me a couple of recipes, including one for koeksisters, which I am dying to try out! I can't recommend this camp highly enough!”

Onsea House Country Inn and Guest Cottage

“We were only here for one night before our flight home - the food was outstanding! We had a few issues regarding whether we were entitled to full board (as it said on our itinerary), and ended up having to pay for lunch. This wasn't a big deal but was a bit annoying when we weren't expecting to have to pay. Overall it was a lovely guesthouse.”
