Found in a valley in the heart of the Drakensberg Mountains, Cleopatra Mountain Farmhouse is a charming country escape, providing warm friendly service and a beautiful backdrop.
The 11 rooms all possess distinctive characters and interesting interiors. The rooms overlook the mountain scenery and a private dam, echoing the property's rich history, with the original farmhouse, dating back to the early 1900s, forming three of the rooms. One of the highlights of a stay at Cleopatra is the scrumptious dinners, which come in 7 courses with a running commentary from owner Richard. Ingredients are freshly picked and locally sourced making for delicious diners complimented by a wonderful selection of fine wines from the property's underground cellar.

A wonderful “quirky” place to stay, with the most amazing food. There’s no swimming pool, which might have been nice on the day when the weather was sunny. It is really in the middle of nowhere, with the roads in and out being poor so with hindsight we could probably have had one less night there. …
