Water Garden Sigiriya, with its inspiring architectural design, offers 30 luxurious villas and overlooks the ancient rock fortress of Sigiriya, one of the Cultural Triangle’s key monuments. The hotel sits in landscaped gardens with a patchwork of lotus ponds and streams, all inspired by the 2000-year-old water garden atop Sigiriya Rock. Whilst offering a tranquil retreat, it's still close to historic temples and wildlife reserves.
The reed-fringed or over-water villas, most with private pools, are all freestanding and extraordinarily spacious. They include separate living areas, large four-poster beds, sliding glass doors and sunny patios with rattan loungers. The communal areas are all carefully positioned to view Sigiriya. The main restaurant with its wraparound dining terrace is pleasantly alfresco. Look out over the rice paddies and the pool while you sample local favorites and international fare. After dinner, move on to the cocktail lounge for evening drinks. After a hot and humid day of sightseeing, you can unwind on the wicker sun loungers beside the infinity pool or indulge in a relaxing treatment at the tranquil spa. On-site there are bicycles for exploring the rural environs on your own, as well as guided nature walks.
