Lying within the vineyards and orchards of the Drakenstein Valley, between Franschhoek and Paarl, Babylonstoren is one of the best preserved werfs (farm yards) in the Cape Dutch tradition, with the manor house dating back to 1777.
Now a boutique hotel it hosts elegant cottages and suites, of varying sizes, in converted Cape Dutch farm buildings.
Babylonstoren has two restaurants serving produce from its famous organic gardens, as well as a wine Tasting Room which serves delicious platters. Spend your time at Babylonstoren enjoying the mountains all around, picking your own healthy fruit and veg, playing pétanque, swimming in the farm dam, enjoying an hour in the spa, eating at one of the restaurants or awaiting sunsets with a glass of wine in hand. The Babylonstoren property also features 2 private villas, the Manor House and the Fynbos Family House, both comfortably sleeping 10 guests.

Excellent location of our room, it was away from everyone and very cozy and lovely. Loved the freedom of coming and going. Provided lots of very interesting things to do on the property. Loved everything about this farm hotel. Enjoyed all the dining experiences that it provided.
This was our least favorite segment of the holiday and, in retrospect, I think we all wish we'd done Babylonstoren as a day trip from Cape Town with a stop in Franschhoek on the way back for dinner.
