Uga Bay is a luxury beach hotel set on Pasikuda Beach, renowned as being the best beach in Sri Lanka, and also one of the safest year-round swimming beaches. It’s a hotel designed for relaxing where you will spend your days paddling in the calm waters and reclining on a sun lounger. The bay does however offer plentiful water sports and opportunities for scuba diving. It is essentially a resort hotel, but the feel is very boutique and personal.
The hotel has a unique architectural design incorporating Mediterranean elegance and tropical simplicity and sits in attractive gardens shaded by coconut palms. 22 of the rooms have direct beach access and the other 22 enjoy fabulous views. All either have a balcony or a courtyard. The beach villas are perfect for families, and the bay suites have their own private pool. There’s a large swimming pool with a separate children’s paddling area as well as a fitness room, and a unique under-the-pool spa with treatment rooms and porthole views onto the beach. Dining can be in the main restaurant, beach-side café, or a destination you desire including starlit beach dinners. There is always a mix of Western and Sri Lankan food on offer Fun-filled water activities abound in the area, including boat trips to spot whales and dolphins as well as snorkelling and scuba diving, but there’s also something for the culture vultures with tours to the ancient city of Polonnaruwa.
