Silverback Lodge
Located in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest's Buhoma sector, Silverback Lodge affords excellent views of the park and sweeping valley and is only a 5 minute walk away from the park. Bwindi is a bird watchers paradise, with around 350 different species populating the forest and the chance to encounter over 100 different species of mammal.
There are a total of 12 rooms, all of which possess excellent vistas. Guests can expect 7 twin rooms, 4 double rooms and 1 single room. The accommodation at Silverback Lodge has been constructed from local materials to add a touch of authenticity to the experience and to blend with the natural landscape. Comfortable verandas are ideal for taking in the view and en suite bathrooms are provided with hot showers.
The main reason to visit Bwindi is to observe the rare and endangered mountain gorilla. Habituated groups of these gentle giants can be tracked through the dense rain forest where guests can watch them interacting and at play. Bwindi owns half of the world's gorilla population so experiencing gorilla tracking can be a magical experience. There are also a range of walking trails on offer from the lodge, including treks that take in 3 beautiful waterfalls and one that allows guests to meet the local Batwa Pygmy community.
