Discover Sofitel Winter Palace

Steeped in history, the Sofitel Winter Palace is a former royal family retreat and where Agatha Christie wrote ‘Death on the Nile’ and from which Howard Carter announced the discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb. This grand old dame is perched on the Nile River amid ancient temples and tropical gardens. It blends colonial design with the glory of the Pharaonic times. From the hotel, you will be able to explore some of Egypt's greatest sights, from the Valley of the Kings (where King Tutankhamun was found) and famous Colossi of Memnon, to the centuries-old Temples of Karnak.

The Winter Palace rooms and suites are adorned with fine wood, satin fabrics, and marble bathrooms. Most have a balcony with views of the river Nile, the hotel gardens, or the Valley of the Kings. In the hotel at large, expect ballrooms and crystal chandeliers and silver service fit for a pharaoh, viceroy, or a Cairo princess. 1886 Restaurant serves creative French cuisine and the original master dining room, La Corniche hosts breakfast, and French-Egyptian dinners. After a hot day sightseeing, retreat to the pool or watch the sunset on the terrace or the open-air Shisha Corner bar.
