Zambia is one of our favourite 'off the beaten track' family holiday destinations, offering a truly private and memorable experience and for the right type of family. Affectionately known as the 'Real Africa' Zambia is home to the legendary African walking safari, Victoria Falls, the wild Zambezi River and abundant wildlife. Zambia is the perfect destination for those families with a sense of adventure and a love of nature.
The diversity of experience in Zambia is enough to keep even the most travelled of families interested. From the adrenalin-filled adventure activities on offer at the Victoria Falls, to the walking safaris on offer at the South Luangwa (teens only) and the boating and canoeing on offer along the Zambezi River, no member of the family will be bored.
Zambia will almost certainly provide an authentic experience of Africa for your family. The remote camps and lodges in this part of the world don't know the meaning of the words 'mass tourism', and this makes them perfect for families in that they are small enough to be flexible and accommodating whilst providing personal attention. A few will also provide specific children's activity programmes. There are also a series of 'safari houses' which cater particularly for families and provide the family with their own guide, specific activities and chefs.
Your dedicated Mahlatini family holiday specialist will be an expert in Zambia and as a result will recommend only accommodation and regions which will provide the best experience for your family. Where possible this bespoke service will extend to planning any additional extra activities or family surprises which will make this family holiday one of the most unforgettable.

Family Holiday to Botswana & Zambia
Highlights were the quality of the staff, the accommodation, the package in terms of the fact that we had good variety of places to go and the connections were fun, with a combination of small planes and overland.
The winning factor was the Delta itself which is truly an incredible place. Untouched, no litter, no people. My personal highlight was seeing 2 leopard, one who obligingly feasted on a buffalo and…
Botswana was brilliant...wonderful country and lovely people and a real Wilderness experience. The real highlight of the trip ....
A once-in-a-lifetime vacation in the Okavongo Delta. I specially appreciated the local travel partner Letaka Saafris and our guide Nkosi. The uncompromising integrity to care about nature, level of attention to explain to us and cater to our needs in the Bush was truely outstanding.
I'd always recommend experiencing the Okavongo through this tip of Campsite Travel, by Letaka.
Seeing the Victoria Falls. Evening cruise on the African Queen to see the sunset on the Zambezi. Breakfast on Livingstone island. Helicopter trip over Falls. The whole experience of staying at Muchenje Safari Lodge especially river safari.
Family Holiday to Botswana, Mozambique, South Africa & Zambia
The holiday was utterly amazing. We saw the most amazing sights - from sitting on the edge of Livingston Island, to a lioness & her cubs walking towards us through the early morning sun, to elephants crossing the river in front of us, to watching dolphins & whales playing in the surf from our room balcony. But what really made the holiday so enjoyable was the smooth organisation…
& beyond camps were exceptional. The care and genuine friendliness took us all aback. Everyone seemed keen to make sure we had a trip to remember. And the detail was really well though through - from the food, the care of children, the rooms, the locations.
(NB - all I would say is next time we wouldn't cover quite so many destinations in such a short time. We'd drop one of…
