Elerai Camp
With arguably the best location of any camp in the Amboseli region, Elerai Camp looks down over the Amboseli National Park in one direction and up to Mount Kilimanjaro in the other direction. It is set in a quiet, 5000-acre private conservation area just outside the national park. Being located on its own private conservation area, you have the chance to view wildlife, in a vehicle and on foot, in private surroundings. There is also the chance, however, of spending the day Amboseli National Park.
The camp has 5 cottage rooms and 12 mountain facing deluxe tents. The deluxe tents are ensuite with a spacious shower and a toilet with a view of Mount Kilimanjaro. They are set on raised cedar wood floors with acacia poles and makuti (thatch) roofing. The cottage rooms are elegantly furnished with large sliding doors that open out onto your own veranda overlooking the plains. Most days you will see the wildlife from the comfort of your room. These rooms are designed using natural rock and acacia wood and the bathrooms have their own unique naturally crafted bathtub. The main guest areas comprise a lounge and dining room which looks out to Mount Kilimanjaro as well as a resident waterhole. The camp’s infinity pool shares the same views. The camp’s aim is to provide a sustainable income from tourism for the Maasai community in the area and to try and ensure that it is in the community’s interest to protect the wildlife for generations to come.

Adventure Holiday to Elerai Camp
Really loved the staff and the food. Although I felt a bit scared being in a tent and hearing the animals at night, it added to the experience, making it truly memorable.

Very quaint tent and campsite. The staff was accommodating and friendly and the food was good, my only complaint is that breakfast should start earlier. We had to be up early for game drives and left the camp each morning between 6:15 and 6:30 while breakfast wasn't served until 6:30, so we kept mi…

We thought the hospitality and staff were amazing, the accommodation was great as was the pool. The only downside to the second camp is that it is further from the park which requires longer driving. We were also disappointed to not see Mt Kilimanjaro, although of course, that is all weather relate…

The camp facilities are great, the food, the staff, the comfort and especially the water hole provided us with everything we needed. Unfortunately the vehicles are most uncomfortable and really not great on the awful roads and caused me allot of back pain. We realised it was the vehicles, when we g…
