Mvuu Camp

Found in the Liwonde National Park, Mvuu Camp offers excellent game viewing in Malawi's premier wildlife haven. Guests can look out from the property and watch as numerous game come to drink from the Shire River, which runs alongside the camp. Crocodile and hippo call the river home and are joined by a wide diversity of birdlife. Guests can get a closer look at the local wildlife via a boat trip into camp. While Mvuu is easily reached by air streaming down the river is a fantastic experience and certainly adds to the authenticity of a stay.

A good option for families, the camp provides 5 specially designed family units, with two beds per room. There are also 7 standard rooms on offer. All rooms are made from stone and canvas, are spacious and feature en-suite bathrooms. There are also a number of self-catering and camping options at camp, ideal for those searching for a slightly more independent experience.

The main guest area is tucked under a quaint thatch roof and provides a dining room, lounge and bar, all with brilliant views of the Shire River. On occasion dinner is an al fresco affair and takes place in a boma under the African night sky. Liwonde National Park is currently home to a black rhino reintroduction programme and a Rhino Sanctuary. With prior arrangement and special permission guests can visit to get closer to these critically endangered creatures.
