Onguma The Fort is located in the private Onguma Reserve near to the eastern entrance of Etosha National Park. It is the most luxurious of the properties on the Onguma Reserve, offering elegant and stylish accommodation overlooking a natural watering hole frequented by many of the reserve's wildlife. Its perfect position offers its guests some of the best sunset views in the country, all overlooking the wildlife and Camel Thorn trees of the beautiful Etosha pans.
As the name suggests The Fort is designed with stark, minimalist earthen walls, stone-cladding and the tall viewing tower. The Fort offers 11 suites and 1 honeymoon suite all situated adjacent to the Main Fort extending on both sides and offering seclusion and private views across the pan from every suite. They all have spacious bathrooms, indoor and outdoor showers and a deck with sun loungers to take in the stunning views. In addition to these there is a final suite, the Fort or Sultan Suite, which is located within the main building. More spacious than the others, it has a larger bedroom and the addition of a lounge and private viewing deck.
The main area of The Fort is an oasis of calm with its large water feature and soothing, mini-waterfalls, with two sumptuously furnished lounges, swimming pool and outside bar with sun loungers. Under the main area is a welcoming air-conditioned bar and wine cellar. In the evening we highly recommend ascending the tower for sundowner drinks to see some of the wildlife as they take a cooling drink from the waterhole.
Onguma Game Reserve also offers a water-level hide which will provide hours of game viewing opportunities for guests.
Onguma Game Reserve is located on the Eastern edge of the Etosha National Park, approximately 5 hours drive from Windhoek, or a 1 hour 20 minute flight.
After enjoying a game drive into Etosha National Park in the morning, you have several activities available in Onguma Reserve such as bush walks, sundowner drivers and night drives.
