holiday to South Africa, Zimbabwe & Kenya

Joyce Manning, 16th September 2019
Overall Rating:

Wonderful trip to South Africa, Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe and Kenya all seamlessly organised. An unforgettable experience in beautiful Africa that has left me wanting more.

Countries Visited

South Africa

“We stayed at Chapungu Bush Camp with wonderful staff who could not do enough to make your stay special. The food prepared by Caroline was outstanding, I did try to persuade her to come home with me to no avail! There was always a surprise when arriving for dinner, lantern lit pathways, dinner in the bush or around the campfire. The wildlife sightings were fantastic with rhino on our first drive and all of the other big five followed. I don't know if we were just lucky but we had a wonderful group of people staying at the camp which made drives and dinner around the campfire very special.”

Zimbabwe

“Victoria Falls was spectacular, we made the effort to be there for sunrise and were rewarded with a glorious sight and a double rainbow. We stayed at the Victoria Falls Hotel with all its colonial splendour, a beautiful building with amazing gardens with a view to the falls.

Then on to Davidson's Camp in Hwange where once again were spoiled by the amazing staff. They really cannot do enough to make your stay memorable, always available for any request you may have, friendly, warm and welcoming. The game viewing was superb as was our guide Douglas who when hearing over the radio there were cheetah in the area treated us to a Ferrari Safari to make sure we saw them. Would return in a heartbeat.”

Kenya

“Kenya is the most magical place which seems to go on forever. We stayed at Olarro Lodge and Olarro Plains in the Loita Hills both of which were stunning. Olarro Plains in particular is beautiful with the most outstanding views over the savannah that can be viewed while in the infinity pool. Once again the management and staff at both lodges were first class, friendly, warm and so welcoming. The food was delicious and as at all of the camps and lodges we visited they are determined to feed you to within an inch of your life!
We went to the Mara National Park for a balloon ride over the Mara with a full day's game drive to follow which was wonderful. If we had more time we would have loved to have had another day there. Our Maasai guides Dominic and Simon took us to visit a Maasai Village which was a very humbling and wonderful experience.
We also visited the Olarro Conservancy headquarters and met with the Conservancy's Manager William, he gave us an insight into the running of such a vast area which was eye opening. The only small negative we had about Olarro is that the reserve is relatively quiet with predator animals compared to the other reserves we visited.”

Staff Review

“I had contacted several travel agents before settling on Mahlatini and am so glad that I found them. Claire Picknell our dedicated agent was wonderful, she listened to what I was looking for and came back to me with various suggestions. She was always available by email and phone and her experience and professionalism gave us the most wonderful trip. Considering the amount of flights, transfers and accommodation that was involved there was not one hiccup, we were looked after and met at every step of the way. Thank you.”
