“We loved the people at the Mara Mara lodge. They so much want to please their guests. However, it was apparent that they are still learning how to be a luxury lodge. They need to focus on expanding their English language skills and service levels. On several occasions they were so eager to help that they over-promised and under-delivered. They would be well served to under-promise and over-deliver. We left hoping that they get their act together because the people and location are both wonderful, but the total experience was at best average.
The location of this lodge couldn't be beat. Every morning and evening we were greeted by wildebeest and zebras passing through the lawn right outside our tent. I actually felt like I was part of the migration!
Additionally, at first appearance, our tent looked amazing, but after a few days of living in it, we realized that there was a lot of deferred maintenance. Our outdoor shower had several loose tiles. The free-standing tub was not properly installed - when I sat on the edge to get in, I thought it was going to tip over. There were mold patches on the interior fabric of our tent.
If the price was right, I would recommend this lodge because of the people and location, but would be clear that they are still learning to be luxury and set expectations accordingly.”

“This was our favorite lodge! The luxury tent overlooking the Mara River was breathtaking. We spent hours watching the mongoose run around the grounds and the hippos fighting in the river. We even got to see a pair of elephants make their way down to the river. Food, laundry, and hospitality were all excellent.”
