Honeymoon to South Africa & Mauritius
Penny Theodoulou & Stuart Latta, 30th July 2012Safari at Monwana Lodge was by far the best part of the trip. We saw much more than expected and the hosts were extremely accommodating, the food was exceptional and the game drives were extremely good, we would most definitely go back to Monwana Lodge again.

“Quite a poor country so if you're looking for ultimate luxury outside the resort you won't find it. The tours inevitably lead you to their shopping areas (which weren't the kind of shopping outlets we wanted to see; ship model factory and a kitchen utensils shop?..) an the temples you are allowed i visit are somewhat dilapidated. The resorts are very luxurious though, so if you want a resort holiday where there's lots to do an no reason to go outside, then Mauritius is great as it has good weather all year round.”
South Africa
“The private reserves which flank Kruger are much better for seeing game. The guys at Monwana lodge actually drove into the bush to gt up close to the animals, don't worry you stay in the car at all times so you're safe but what a ride! This was the highlight of our honeymoon by far! But don't be fooled! South Africa can be very cold in winter so don't forget to bring your winter woollies. We didn't and we would hav frozen if it wasnt for the Monwana lodge team supplying blankets and hot water bottles.”

“The food was fantastic the chef should be commended. Ryan and Karen (our hosts) were so accommodating and when they found out we were honeymooners went out of their way to leave a few surprises in our room such as a romantic candlelit bath with a bottle of champagne. Lovely people, very friendly and even gave me their own personal throat lozenges when I got a sore throat (very remote area so no pharmacy nearby).”

“The resort itself is beautiful and the activities are ample, however as a honeymoon couple we felt let down by the lack of delivery on their honeymoon package (the fruit platter turned out to be a pineapple !! And the sparkling wine wasn't provided but they failed to mention that the bottle of wine was complimentary, plus the t-shirt/pardon we were supposed to receive never arrived. The service in the bar was terrible, we waited over an hour to served (the staff were too busy talking) and when we did get served, often it was something we hadnt ordered.”
