Honeymoon to Botswana, South Africa & Zambia
Neysa D Nankervis, 22nd September 2022We had an amazing time. The only reason for 4 stars was a few issues that I will mention below. But overall we truly loved our time in Africa and cannot wait to go back one day.

“This was a great place but it was very unnecessarily expensive. It was my fault for not checking the price of this before we left, but I had mentioned I wanted middle-of-the-road prices and this was insanely expensive per night. We only found that out once we got there, which again was my fault for not checking before. Considering we barely spent any time there we would have preferred to stay at a much cheaper location.”

“Truly wonderful and breathtaking. The animals walking around the hotel were one of the best travel experiences of our lives. The hotel staff were so lovely and the high price tag was definitely worth it.”

Savute Under Canvas
“This was not somewhere we should have been sent for our honeymoon. It was 106 degrees F with no AC or even a fan. When we first arrived there I did not think I was going to make it two days. I also think it was shocking to the system since everything leading up to it had been so nice and extravagant and then we got here at noon and had 4 hours to just sit in our sauna tent waiting for a game drive. Luckily staff were so nice I did not want to be rude so we stayed and we had a wonderful time given the circumstances. But I think for someone's honeymoon and for the time of the year, it really should not be an option.”

“Caroline was great and she was so patient with us and with all my questions. Even when we were on our trip I emailed her the first few days because I was not sure how it all worked and she always answered all my questions. My only complaints were what I mentioned above in the Savute camp, it really kind of put a damper on the end of our trip. The second issue was the travel while in Botswana. We took a hopper plane down to Nxabega, then went all the way back to Savuti, then came all the way back down to Xaranna. Even the guides were confused why they did not just have us go to Nxabega first then Xaranna then back to Savute. I am so thankful that we did not do that because I would have been upset to end on Savute, but I think it could have been planned better with less traveling in between. The hopper planes ended up taking about 2.5 hours with all the stops so it seemed like we just did a whole lot of unnecessary traveling that last week.
Despite the hiccups, I am very grateful for Caroline planning this trip for us. We packed a whole lot into 2.5 weeks and she orchestrated it really well. There is no way we could have planned that trip on our own. I will definitely recommend Mahlatini to friends and if we travel to Africa again I will definitely use Mahlatini. We are dreaming of going back one day with our son when he is older! Thank you for a wonderful trip :)”
