holiday to Tanzania
Paul Fantelli, 9th June 2023All arrangements were outstanding. Great camps and perfect coordination between camps.
Accommodation Visited
Hamerkop House by Lemala
“Very nice and very friendly with great food. Excellent for the first night to start the Safari.”
Lemala Ngorongoro
“The location was worth everything. Fantastic friendly staff, great food, and a fun time. Loved the tents, beds and talking showers. Our guide Fredy Mkunde was outstanding, knowledgeable and so much fun to be with. Great vehicles and excellent Maasai village visit.”
Asilia Oliver's Camp
“The camp facilities were fantastic. We would have liked to have rooms closer to each other, we had rooms 1 and 5. The game drive was excellent with the best guide ever, Partena. We liked the open vehicle and knowledgeable guide. Outstanding food and game drives were exactly what we wanted.
We only gave 3 stars because Lori and Cayden did not have hot water for their showers or sink any of the days. We reported the problem, but it never got fixed. Cold showers for both of them the entire Oliver's Camp visit. I was not impressed with our camp assistant manager. Rose was outstanding, but then she was replaced by the assistant manager - forgot his name. Obviously not the best since he never got the hot water fixed. Overall, Oliver's Camp was at the bottom of my experience - great guide and friendly staff, but the assistant manager was disappointing both in his ineffective management and personality.”
Lake Manyara Tree Lodge
“What an outstanding camp. Great, friendly staff and tree-top tents. All of the staff was so friendly and helpful and so much fun. The food here was excellent with a great variety and prepared perfectly. The night game drive was so much fun and unbelievably fascinating. I was not interested in the night drive but it turned out to be one of my favorite drives. Chris Kivuyo was the most fun, personable, and knowledgeable guide. His personality was so much fun and great to be with. He is among the best guides. I would go with him anywhere!!”
Serengeti Under Canvas
“We loved the Under Canvas camp. Again we had one of the best guides - Moses Mhina. Somehow when comparing our guides with others, we seemed to get the best of them all. It was fantastic because Moses truly listened to us in what we wanted to see and somehow found everything.
Great tents next to each other and also outstanding food and field breakfast. Moses was very patient and therefore enabled us to wait for the migration river crossing and skip lunch at our request - we would have missed it like most other safari guests. Perfect vehicle for these days.”
Grumeti Serengeti River Lodge
“Obviously one of the best facilities with unbelievable rooms, meals, and staff. So outstanding! The meals were very good but almost too fancy. Would have liked most of the meals with a little less complex recipes. All were very delicious, but too rich for our appetite. Occasional meals like that are outstanding, but not every meal. For example, the Eggs Benedict had at least 8 ingredients instead of a more simple and delicious Eggs Benedict. Just to be clear, all of our meals were delicious, and the chef was outstanding, but it was too rich for every meal.
Our guide was great. When Joseph, the manager, realized we would be paired up with another couple that was just starting their safari, he decided to give us another guide, Godliving. We then had, once again, our own vehicle, and Godliving volunteered to take us for the 3 days. It could not have been better because Godliving was an outstanding young fellow who was so knowledgeable and perfect to talk to Cayden and relate his experience and career goals, just like Cayden. This could not have been a better ending to a wonderful safari including the facilities, staff, animals, vehicle, guide, and management.”
Staff Review
“Claire deserves 10 stars. Her communication and understanding of our interests made this the most outstanding safari. Claire organized the camps in perfect order and now I clearly appreciate the order in which we visited the various areas. It was the best and after talking to many other safari visitors, I am convinced that our safari was the most organized with top-quality arrangements compared to so many people we talked to. We had our own vehicles without other people in our vehicle the entire time and that was so good for us because Cayden was so knowledgeable about all the animals that we would have been bored with so many elementary guide discussions. How this happened I do not know, but I am giving full credit to Claire because her spirit made it happen. Claire's help and guidance for the past year and then the outstanding coordination of all transportation and camps could not have been better. I really can not say enough good and am so grateful for the entire association with Mahlatini - from beginning to end and from the first flight out to our return. All the best!!! I have no question that I was lucky to pick Mahlatini and so fortunate that Claire stuck with me the entire time. She truly made this the trip of my lifetime, and I have been on many, many worldwide. Thank you to Claire and all the staff that made this happen. Please use me as a reference to anyone who cares to know about Mahlatini.”
