Holiday to Tanzania & Kenya
Howard Kalender, 3rd July 2023The six of us had a wonderful trip. It was well organized and coordinated with no significant hiccups along the way. All of the people we interacted with were gracious and very attentive. In particular, we found all the guides to be very personable, knowledgeable and engaging. Aside from the camps, we would like to compliment the members of the team who assisted us with transfers between the hotels and airports in Nairobi. In particular, we would like to thank the young lady (forgot her name) who escorted us through the Nairobi check-in and immigration process departing Kenya.
Accommodation Visited
Emara Ole-Sereni
“We were at the hotel for only 12 hours but enjoyed the people and the facilities. It was a lovely place to begin the trip.”
Elewana Arusha Coffee Lodge
“We only stayed at this lodge for approximately 12 hours. The accommodations and food were excellent. It is hard to comment on much more due to our short stay.”
Elewana The Manor at Ngorongoro
“WOW!!! This was an excellent place to stay. The staff was amazing, especially Peter who was very attentive to us. One of the six of us was briefly unwell and Peter went above and beyond all expectations to help her. We enjoyed our discussions with Altus, the manager. We would like to have spent another night at The Manor.”
Elewana Serengeti Migration Camp
“Beautiful location with amazing views and sunsets. The staff was excellent and accommodating. Lazarus, who guided us on a safari walk was excellent. This was the only camp where we were disappointed with the accommodation..... the furniture was worn in and the floors were dirty. We were taken aback by having only a canvas flap screening off the toilet.
We had an amusing incident on departure. We were standing outside the vehicle at the airstrip waiting for our plane to land when John, our guide, suddenly disappeared with our luggage in the Land Cruiser. He subsequently reappeared after chasing an animal off the airstrip so the plane could land. Only in the bush could this happen!”
Elewana Sand River Maasai Mara
“Sand River was the best tent accommodation on the trip and we thoroughly enjoyed the outside shower. Nicolene was a gracious hostess and the staff were wonderfully attentive. The chef was delightful and on request gave us a recipe for a Berry Ricotta Cake.
One of the six of us lost his prescription medications and the staff went over and beyond attempting to find the lost medications at the previous camp. The medications were not found and again the staff made a tremendous effort to obtain prescriptions to replace the lost medications.”
Elewana Kifaru House
“What a wonderful way to end the trip!!! This oasis in the desert is the perfect place to wind down and relax at the end of a fabulous two-week adventure. We want to give compliments to the staff at Kifaru with special recognition to James, Sasha and our guide, Philip. Philip is a class act, the best of the best, a humble man who was very personable and willing to spend a lot of time discussing his culture.”
Staff Review
“Stuart was wonderful to work with and very knowledgeable. He always responded in a timely manner to all our questions and concerns. In particular, we found him to be very helpful in the one-hour phone conversation we had with him prior to our trip. We would highly recommend Stuart to other people contemplating a trip with Mahlatini.”
