Holiday to Seychelles

Our trip overall was wonderful. There were a few organizational things that could have made it go more smoothly.

Eden Bleu Hotel

“It's an OK hotel for a quick stop once you arrive. The rooms need a refresh - ours had mold on the ceiling and one of the mirror lights didn't work. But the surrounding area is nice to walk around in, the pool is decent, and the staff were friendly.”

Raffles Praslin Seychelles

“A wonderful resort all around. Very hilly, so it's not very walkable, but the buggy service is fast and the drivers are very pleasant. The food was generally good and the service was top-notch. We purchased a painting from the property and asked if they could help secure it for travel. We were expecting a bit of bubble wrap and got a custom-built wooden case for it!”

“The property was nice but the service was lacking. Dinners took an exceedingly long time and we had to constantly flag down someone to ask for drinks or to make any adjustments to our orders once they were placed. The one bright spot was Samson. He wasn't our assigned villa host but overheard us saying our host hadn't contacted us, so he reached out and made sure we had everything we needed after that.. even when he was off duty!”

“A few thoughts on the Mahlatini process:

Payment seemed really hard. I was surprised that you didn't provide a way for us to pay online through our bank. I had to actually go to the bank in person and have a wire transfer made.

I'm not sure if this was Mahlatini or Mason's in Seychelles, but there was a lot of confusion about our itinerary. We were traveling with another couple but not meeting up right away. Our drivers consistently asked for the other couple, and our ferry tickets were even in the other couple's names! This caused a lot of confusion, and Mason's tried to reissue the tickets in our names. We almost missed our ferry, and our tickets still showed the wrong names, but they didn't ask for ID as we boarded the boat, so it worked out. We arrived at the first hotel we were staying at with the other couple and were let in. However, they almost didn't let our friends in because they thought "they" were already at the hotel.

Mason's asked for my phone number twice but never reached out. They had used the UK instead of the US country code. Even once we got that cleared up, they said they'd confirm details of our next day's activities, and they never did.

All the Mason's drivers were very pleasant and took good care of us, including on our private excursions.

We were really surprised Stuart didn't recommend a day trip to La Digue. Once we were in the Seychelles, all the locals said it was a "must-see." We took a day trip over and rented bikes, and it was one of our favorite days on the trip. It's known for the best beaches, and being almost all bike traffic made it a really fun experience compared to the other islands that you needed a car to explore.

We did have a change of flight, and the after-hours emergency email was very responsive in changing our arrival time and pick-up arrangements.”
