Serondella Game Lodge
“A really high-quality lodge. Accommodation (Willem's Den) for a family of 5 was fantastic. The food was great. The location and all-round feel of the lodge are superb. The wildlife experience is fantastic, especially for leopards and lions.
The only niggle was quite an aggressive approach to tipping at the end of the stay. Having a card with recommended tip levels thrust under your nose at check-out is a bit off. We were intending to tip, as that is the norm, but the way it was handled was not great.”
LUX* Le Morne
“We had stayed here before. Great setting with the backdrop of Le Morne and a really nice stretch of beach. Mild current in the sea, and you can drop in at one end of the beach and drift to the other end while looking up at Le Morne, which is fantastic. Amazing sunsets. Rooms are a bit tired compared to Lux Belle Mer, but perfectly fine for us. The Thai Restaurant is great, while the buffet is average. The culinary highlight is dinner at Viks - traditional Creole food served on the beach and cooked by Vic for the family out of his fisherman's hut. We stayed here for 7 nights and Lux Belle Mer for 4 nights. The family's opinion was divided on which hotel they preferred out of the two, which is good as each hotel has something different to offer.”
LUX* Belle Mare
“A hotel that felt like it has a focus on families with younger kids - which is great if you have younger kids. However, if you don't, and you are there during school holidays with older kids, the place feels quite overrun. The beach is very nice, but the adults-only section could do with being much bigger. The sea is great for younger kids as it is very shallow for a long way out, but not great for swimming at all because you cannot go out deep enough without entering into boat traffic. The food in the buffet and all restaurants is excellent - much better than Lux La Morne in that respect. The rooms are very nice as well, and a bit more modern than Lux Le Morne.”
