“I loved how personal all the staff were. Emmy was so lovely and friendly but all the members of staff couldn't do enough for us. We loved the personal touches, providing towels for the beach, suggesting restaurants and my favourite was definitely the afternoon tea and cake. Breakfast was yummy, I couldn't get enough of the French Toast!”

River Manor Boutique Hotel & Spa

“Probably least keen on this hotel. Welcome seemed quite formal and not as friendly but I suppose it was difficult to follow from Emmy in the Clarendon. Whilst the hotel is generally nice and located in a good location, we didn't get a warm feeling for the place and another 2 couples we spoke to had the same feeling. The room was quite cool and we later realised the heating wasn't working. The solution was an electric radiator left in the middle of the room for the duration of the stay. The bathroom was quite basic, they seemed very stingy on tissues, providing about 10 overall. Also there were quite a few ants- some on the roof of the bathroom and more along the doorway but that's not really hotel's fault. DIdn't really enjoy the breakfast and it seemed to take forever to come even though it wasn't that busy. Probably the only hotel I wouldn't recommend”

“Really enjoyed our stay here, really wished we could have spent longer, loved the hotel and loved Hermanus. Our room was sea-facing and we woke up to watch whales from our balcony. We both got a back, neck and shoulder massage which was probably one of the best I've had.”

“First impressions were very poor as when we arrived after a five hour drive. Joe wasn't even out of the car when I was asked if we were having dinner, and asked what meat I wanted. We loved the farm house though dinner was very average. The hot breakfast was good in the morning but the fruit was covered with flies as there was no covers.”

“So magical! Loved everything about this place, just wish the weather had been better so we could have enjoyed the private plunge pool. Tis is definite 5 star, the attention to detail and extra touches made our stay so enjoyable. I loved the bathroom and the Zinzi restaurant food was so good.”

“This was amazing! I don't think I've ever ate so much in my life, but everything is cooked or baked freshly so it's hard to say no. We loved the atmosphere, it was just so peaceful and we absolutely loved the suites. Ours looked over a watering hole. I would definitely recommend to friends, it wasn't just a great safari, the over all experience just ended our trip to SA on a complete high.”

“Completely different hotel to staying in South Africa but the decor, service etc was great. Everything was so crisp and clean. I've never seen such a variety of food for breakfast it was amazing. But we did find the hotel very expensive. We went to the Baristi bar one night and the place was heaving. We enjoyed it but the music was very loud from our room and older people may not appreciate it so much.”
